Anambra: Jonathan, 7 govs for Soludo’s campaign - Prepare your handover note, Soludo tells Gov Obi

THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has named Vice President Goodluck Jonathan as head of the campaign committee of Professor Chukwuma Soludo, its candidate in the 2010 governorship election in Anambra State.

Also included on the committee are the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, governors of Delta, Kogi, Bauchi, Oyo, Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo states, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, Alhaji Isa Yuguda, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, Mr. Sullivan Chime, Chief Martins Elechi and Chief Ikedi Ohakim, respectively.

According to a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Professor Rufai Alkali, in Abuja on Thursday, other members of the committee include the deputy national chairman of the PDP, Dr. Bello Haliru Mohammed, the Organising Secretary, Mr. Uche Secondus, the National Women’s Leader, Hajiya Inna Ciroma and the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Honourable Emeka Ihedioha.

Also included are all PDP senators from the South East, all PDP members of the House of Representatives from the South East, Chief Olisa Metuh, national vice chairman, South East and all PDP ministers from the South East
The list also has other prominent South East PDP stakeholders, including a former governor of old Anambra State, Chief Jim Nwobodo, former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, as well as Professor Jerry Gana, Senator Femi Kila, Senator Onyeabo Obi and Mr. Henry Balogun.

The rest are Mr. Onyeachi Ibezue, Chief Maduka Anene Olisa, Mr. Azubuike Eze, Senator Bala Adamu Kariya, Dr. Igwe Aja-Nwachukwu, Chief Cletus Ibeto, Chief Arthur Eze, Chief Simeon Okeke, Senator Mike Ajaegbo, General Lawrence Onoja, (rtd) and Mr. Chuks Udemezue.

The Deputy National Secretary of the PDP, Dr. Babayo Shehu, is to serve as secretary to the committee which would be inaugurated on Tuesday next week.

Meanwhile, Professor Charles Soludo has advised Governor Peter Obi of the All Peoples Grand Alliance (APGA) to be preparing his handover note because he would definitely leave Anambra Government House when the people of the state would elect the person of their choice in the 2010 governorship election.

Professor Soludo, who was speaking on Thursday at the Emmaus House in Awka, in a reconciliation meeting with the PDP five principal officers in all the 326 wards of the state and members of the PDP executive in all the 21 local government areas of the state, said that Anambra State was PDP state and the party would capture the governorship seat in the election.

He told Governor Obi that PDP will not give him the loopholes he used in capturing the seat he is now occupying because the PDP in Anambra State now is one indivisible family without factions as it was before, which Obi capitalised on, to come to power.

Soludo called on the PDP principal officers in all the 326 wards of the state and local government PDP executives in the state to start reconciliation process immediately they reached their wards, uniting people and bringing new people to the PDP fold in preparation for the 2010 election.

In his response, the PDP caretaker committee secretary in the state, Honourable Tony Mobike, thanked God for uniting PDP once more and promised that the party will accommodate everybody, no matter the factions they formerly belonged to.
