I take it upon myself to share at least a Scripture verse daily. So help me God.

This week I'll pick verses showing the importance of knowing the scriptures:

Today, 07-10-09

Psalms 119:11 - Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Lesson: If we read and ruminate on the Word of God, it will be difficult for us to sin/offend(both God & fellow men)
Challenge: Read and medidate on the word of God Daily.

Your contributions will not go unrewarded by God as this could go a long way in ministering to someone far away in a particular predicament

Today, 08-10-09

Matthew 24:35 – Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Lesson: It is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than the word of Christ.
Challenge: Either in the time or in the way that we have prescribed; yet, in God's time, which is the best time, and in God's way, which is the best way, it shall certainly be fulfilled

Friday, 09-10-09

I Peter 2:2 – As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby

Lesson: The milk of the word is proper for the soul, whereby the mind, not the body, is nourished and strengthened.
Challenge: We must desire this milk of the word, which must be ‘sincere’, not adulterated by the mixtures of men, who often corrupt the word of God.

Saturday, 10-10-09

John 5:39 – Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Lesson: The scripture assures us of an eternal state set before us, and offers to us an eternal life in that state.
Challenge: Do you have the hope of eternal life? Do you have enough of knowledge of Christ? Search the scriptures! It tells us all about Christ and brightens our hopes.

Sunday, 11-10-09

II Timothy 3:16 – All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Lesson: The scriptures is a divine revelation, which we may depend upon as infallibly true.
Challenge: We must not pick and choose part(s) of the scriptures to believe and obey but take it in its entirety.

This week I’ll focus on trust (Trust in God).

12 – 10 – 2009

Psalm 9:10: And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Lesson: The Lord cannot forsake you if you seek Him.
Challenge: Do you know the Lord? Do you put your trust in Him? If not, Why not?

13 – 10 – 2009

Psalms 25:2: O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

Lesson: Our prayers should be of this kind – challenging God with the fact that you trust only in Him to help you out of your situation.
Challenge: In prayers with respect to our enemies, we must never pray to make them die but that God should never allow them to triumph over you. That’s the right kind of prayer with regard to enemies.

14 – 10 – 2009

Psalms 37:3: Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Lesson: The condition of dwelling in the land God has given to us and being fed (i.e. receiving our daily bread) is trusting In God and doing good to or fellow men.
Challenge: Trusting the Lord is both a command and also an important condition in receiving God’s blessings.

15 – 10 – 2009

Psalms 37:40: And the LORD shall help them and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

Lesson: Deliverance and emancipation is only from God. Help, unmerited favour comes from ‘on high’.
Challenge: It becomes mandatory for God to help you only if you trust in His ability to do so.

16 – 10 – 2009

Psalms 62:8: Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us.

Lesson: Trusting in God must be accompanied by prayers (i.e. pouring out of the heart before Him)
Challenge: God is the refuge of the righteous.

Saturday, 17 – 10 – 2009

Psalms 118:8: It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
Psalms 118:9: It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

Lesson: Trusting a man amounts to an attempt to build a castle in the air
Challenge: Wouldn’t you rather trust God than mortal man who could pass on the next minute?

Sunday, 18 – 10 – 2009

Psalms 125:1: They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.

Lesson: Trusting the Lord makes you sure of tomorrow because He sets a watch over you
Challenge: This is a promise and He that has promised is able to do exceeding more than what we imagine.

20 – 10 – 2009

Proverb 15:29: The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

Lesson: The Lord hears the prayers of the righteous of a surety.
Challenge: Are you righteous? Then just pray and it shall be answered.

Lesson: Prayer for the nation is a command.

True, Nigeria is our Jerusalem, our families are our Jerusalem, the poor people around us are our Jerusalem, the people at war are our Jerusalem - it's a command from God that we must pray for these ones as well as the peace of Jerusalem itself.

Let's remember to also come back and thank God when we receive answers to our prayers. Remember, it is said that it's more blessed to give than to receive, so, the more we thank God for what He has done for us, the more He'll do for us - it's a simple principle!

Especially,in this time of seeking for admissions, if you put your trust in men, they shall fail you! But, look at this, God Himself has promised that He'll never fail those that put their trust in Him - in fact, He said, He'll never forsake them! So, are you putting your trust in God or man?
