Old Lions & Lionesses, please share with prospective students some tips they need to know to help them succeed in their first year.

Many JAMBITES get carried away in their first year and before they settle into their studies, exams would already be knocking at their door and they go in unprepared and you know what the results will be.

So, let's hear from you so that our dear prospective students who will eventually make it to the Den won't mak these common mistakes.

Also, prospective students, let's hear from you about the things you would be careful of in other to make a good grade starting from your first year.

yep very nice thread.

u c i believe 1 tin in life n dat is "FOCUS" wen u are focused no attraction will distract u. one thing is this, we youths tend to 4gt easily what our aim(s) is/are once we feel lik we are gtin wat w'v been longing to get...

my advice to the prospectives s, we shudnt easily 4get where we come 4rm. once u get into the campus, u know alot of challenges wil kip knockin at d door, be straight/focus. u r sent there 4 a purpose, stayin there has time boundary while fun has limitless time.

I think another factor is that most young people are too much controlled by their parents. Their parents dont' allow them to interact or socialize when they're leaving at home. So, as soon as they become Jambites, they break out from home and then start exercising their freedom on  campus. Before long, they get carried away and loose focus like BBLACKY said.

My advice would be for them to remain focus no matter what. Also, they should watch out for guys. Guys actually come as  wolfs but in sheep's clothing to deceive the jambites who are babes. They tell them this trash about how they'll protect them, teach them, guide them, give them money, etc. However, the girls end up dating multiple of these innocent girls and end up distracting them from their studies. Please, babes stay focus on your studies in your furst year - no boyfriends, please... This is my sincere contribution as a babe who has been there before.

Na wa for all of una........there is no fun in UNN....evryone in UNN is a Jackometer....... the truth is, if you dont want to get distracted, you wont get distracted.... a student does not get into school just to read alone, you have to let the school pass through you...you have to balance social, academics, and every other thing you've got together..

It is true that Fun is limitless like you saidn when you get out ..but the truth is..if you are not social now...if you have not been played now....if you dont go through all this things now, believe me, it's  not gonna be easy dealing with it in Future.

Ma advice is....Know yourself, you have to know who you really are....you have to learn to know how to use your Emotional intelligence to reduce your stress and sustain your energy positively...That is what makes you a complete student...not only Jacking...

Well, i dont advice you to get into more of these stuffs in your first year though..but the truth is you just have to know yourself...    If someone ask you how many Legs a cow has if you call a tail a leg......the answer is (....4....) .........even if you call a tail a leg, it does not necessarily mean it's a leg......   So my ppl...it's all about knowing yourself....if you know you can deal with it...pls go ahead!!!    well if you cant...learn to deal with it..because it will make you stronger and better....that's what make you a real lioness...

I think the other forumites have said it the way it is. My only problem with advise is that those who give it often don't play by the rules. Having said that, i admonish you all to take the words of bblacky, nelly and lion king seriously. Understand that life is in phases. Just be you coz no one can't beat you in being you. U WILL MAKE IT!

Seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God and HIS righteousness... God first, Academics next, healthy interaction and if there is extra time extra-curriculars (sports, TV, etc)
