Forumites,

You may have noticed that the forum disappeared from the evening of Tuesday 3rd Feb to this evening Thursday 5th Feb. Some Hackers are  not happy about the good work we're doing here. They've been hitting the forum with all sorts of attacks but have not succeeded.

On Tuesday, while I was doing some forum maintenance, I didn't know the Hackers were watching from the spirit world and because some files were open during the maintenance, the Hackers from Russia struck and got the forum.

I have worked effortlessly to bring the forum back. I have also learned some lessons. We are more than these Hackers. We know better and we'll defeat them with technology because our work here is for a good purpose.

So, Forumites, I apologize for the time out but we are back and even back with a more secured forum.

I'll be adding a chat feature to the forum very soon. The forum will even be more interactive because God is on our side.

Great Lions and Lionesses!

@ adim2 - it's a wonderful idea to put ads on the forum, in fact, that could yield some small money to me to keep the forum running. However, monetization is not my focus. I'm not spending so much right way getting the forum up and running. The most expensive commitment I'm making now is committing my time in stopping Hackers and unwanted guests to the forum. My idea of building forums for all Nigerian Universities is only a volunteer non-profit making effort and a way of saying Thank You to my dear country and helping the young ones.

But again, you're right about the adverts. When we reach a critical mass and if I can no longer maintain the forum from my pockets, then I could consider selling ads to make some change to help run the forum.

and also if other site do advertise our own site

No, at the moment, we're not advertising on other sites because this will cause me so much money. This is only a volunteer effort. Infact, our target is to reach the students, staff and alumnus of this great University. If we focus on this target, we could reach a critical mass by spreading the good news of the forum through:

- word of mouth to our friends in hostels, departments, church, cafes, etc. When one person tells one person, that one person will visit, see and tell another person who will tell another person and so on...
- by using the invite link to send email invites to as many of our friends as we can
- by posting comments about the site to our friends in Facebook and other social networking sites
- by committing to help with the launch on campus.
- etc

YES WE CAN!
