* NUGA  stands for Nigerian Universities Games Association
* It's a sports competition created by legislation and inaugurated in 1965 to operate under the office of the committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities.
* NUGA is a biennial games competition
* The first edition of this biennial event was held at the University of Ibadan in 1966.
* Since then, there have been 20 other editions with the last one in February 2007 hosted by the University of Maiduguri.
* The next edition, tagged NUGA Games UNN 2008 is being hosted by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
