ADMISSION....a do or die affair??

The problem of inadequate admission spaces for the over 1.4 million candidates sitting for JAMB UTME exercise in 2011 has made this years admission look like a do or die affair.
This is the case despite the establishment of nine new universities (with carrying capacity of 500 students per session) by the federal government.  According to NUC, the available admission space in all Nigerian tertiary institutions (federal, state, private universities; polytechnics, and colleges of education) can only take about 16 percent of those seeking admission in 2011. This means that only about 224,000 candidates out of 1.4 million candidates can be admitted this year.
These figures are very disturbing. Admission seekers really need to 'strive to enter'. They need to go the extra mile. Read the extra hours, pray the extra hours, etc It is only those extras that would give them the extraordinary result they need in order to get admitted. GOOD LUCK TO ALL ADMISSION SEEKERS.

The Nigerian situation is really pitiable. Even the so-called nine new universities that i thought would help. Imagine 9 universities taking 4500 students per session. The worst is that more and more students are graduating from secondary schools every year. Which way nigeria?

hello valentine, nobody is making u 2 b afraid,there are jst telling u hw our educational system,an hw u r going 2 prepare hard 4 dis year jamb. the real problem with all dis is jst d enrolment of students.

@valentine. Ignorance of a thing does not cancel its existence. Deliberately closing your ears to the problems facing our education system would still not solve the problem. For me, info is key.

@chisom. There's so much the govt. Can do to salvage the situation but the real question is: are they interested? Does it concern them? Do their children ever need to seek admission when there are countless schools abroad?

Chisom leave valentine alone, he hv already secure addmission by chilaka. He is among those dat chilaka hv secure addmission 2ru nooks and cranny. He does nt knw dat malpratice do nt pay, he did nt hear dat sme guys dat got addmission last year 2ru nooks and cranny hv been  sent backing 2 dere various home, jst leave him alone!
