FOR ALL THOSE WHO CARE TO LISTEN. That JAMB does negative marking is no longer news. What is really not certain is the kind of negative marking they do. This should serve as a warning to all jambites. Any guessed answer is like an attempt to "cheat" the examination body (if your guess now happens to be the correct answer) and JAMB regard it next to a crime. The penalty? Oh, well, loss of marks, of course!
Please do not shade an answer which you are not completely sure of.

Every other person would have reacted as you did. Without sounding immodest, I have plenitude of people working in JAMB. Not just casual workers but those that worth their salt whom I contacted when the issue was still very much burning. And guess what. All of them said there is nothing like Negative marking. It would be illusion to assume that there is.

We also know that one of the instructions of JAMB states ATTEMPT ALL QUESTIONS. How then will a candidate be penalized for just adhering to instructions. Because no one would opt to fail a question. We only fail questions in the course of attempting to answer them, which logically is part of the instructions.

PLEASE, BE MISLED NOT. Such things as Negative Marking DON'T exist. Thank you.

Cheers.

jamb is nt doing negative marking, prof. ojerinde said that that was to allow candidates to guest answers they are nt sure of,but bear in mind that all questions do not carry equal marks.Shade wisely!.

It is stated that all questions carry equal marks except otherwise stated, like in the Use of English(comprehension, register etc. Thank u.

Am liking this!
@fort. You just said it all. That was very logical. It's now left for the candidates to make the right choice and hearken to the voice of reason.

So far so good.
As we all count down to 11th June, i'd wish that all Jamb candidates in this forum give a careful thought to this:
--why is it that two candidates can prepare for an exam using the same materials, studying the same number of hours and almost putting in the same amount of energy but at the end of the day, one comes through in flying colours while the other may not do too well?
Consider this statement by Joseph V. Landy,
"The amount of time you devoted to your studies has little relation to your success or failure. What matters most is not the time or energy or goodwill or even brains but METHOD. The secret of successful study is the 'how'. Unfortunately, most students pay scant attention to how they study. They let their eyes wonder aimlessly over the pages of a textbook in the vain hope that what they read will somehow 'stick' in their minds until examination time"

I think the best thing is for everyone to try and discover his/her own unique methods of study because we are all different. Some people prefer studying with music while others don't; some can study 3hours at a stretch while others prefer to break it up and take some rest at regular intervals, etc. The most important thing is to discover HOW best you assimilate and retain information.

I'd like to use this medium to remind/advice my fellow jamb candidates to, among other things, pay very good attention to their health. This may be necessary now against next week because every year, a lot of people miss the exams because of one sickness or the other. Some of us who are prone to malaria fever, for example, may need to go for malaria therapy now so that everything they've worked for may not be in vain. If you can afford a routine medical check up, that'd be the best.
GOODLUCK to all jambites; and to all forumites, you are doing a great job here!

JAMB UTME 2011/12 has been shifted from 11th to 18th of June 2011. This is because the initial date clashed with NECO fixtures, and since it's the same exam centres and almost the same candidates, the only logical thing to do is to shift jamb date.
But when you critically analyse this whole thing, you'd notice that it doesn't make sense because NECO time-table has been there all these while. Jamb just acted as if they just noticed the clash yesterday. It shows some measure of incompetence in their planning and logistics unit.

Every disappointment, they say, is a blessing in disguise. This should be the mentality of Jamb candidates in view of the postponement of the exam date. This is because it offers them one extra week of thorough revision and preparation. They should not relent because some of the things they would learn in the extra week may come out in the exams.
GOODLUCK to all jambites
