Dear All,
We are launching the Google Campus Ambassador program in Nigeria and would like to invite your students to apply. We hope to find 2 - 5 outstanding students, in at least level 2, who are passionate about technology at your university to spend 1-year as Google Campus Ambassadors. In order to help you spread the word, we have attached a poster and an email invitation that we invite you to share with your students immediately. The application deadline is Friday, 28 January 2011.
What we are looking for:
The most Technically savvy, forward thinking, and self motivated students.
As a Google Campus Ambassador your student becomes a liaison between Google and your university. For example, Ambassadors may plan and host a few events during the school year, introduce students to new Google products and features, and act as a campus contact for Google teams.
A Learning Opportunity:
Being a Google Campus Ambassador is an excellent learning platform. Among other things, students will receive invitations to participate in special Google events, they may learn and support in testing Google Products before launch, they will have the chance to build their professional network, and be considered for Internship opportunities at the local Google Nigeria Office.
To apply, students should:
1.
Write an Essay on one of these topics: Mobile applications (SMS and Mobile Web), Local Content & localization, Cloud computing and Open source, explaining “How these Technologies can become an integral part of our lives in Africa.”
2.
Write a Motivation letter on why s/he wants to be an ambassador, what exposure s/he already has to Google products, what s/he can change in his/her Country through learning new technical skills and how using Google tools could help the university.
3.
Provide a short statement from his/her Professor or Head of Department confirming the students name, study level (2 or above) and the area of study (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, etc) from this university.
4.
Students should send their Essay, Motivation letter and Professor or Head of Department statement by email to:
google-africa-ambassadors@google.com by Friday, 28 January 2011. Students should please include “Google Campus Ambassador” and the University Name in the email title. Accepted students will be informed by early February 2011.
In addition, we would like to request your support in identifying the top 10 applications from your university as part of the selection process.
