Friends and well-wishers of Obayomi Olaitan Azeez, president-elect of UNILORIN Students’ Union treated students and comrades to a sumptuous feast last Sunday to celebrate his victory. The event, held at a residence in Tanke area of Ilorin, witnessed a large turnout of ‘who-is-who’ in political circles of the university.

In his speech, the honouree appreciated the effort of his campaigners and all those who contributed to the realization of his aspiration. He, however, promised not to lbetray  the confidence reposed in him.

Guests were given the opportunity to express their concerns and expectations from the new president at the get-together, while goodwill messages and words of advice were delivered by faculty and departmental presidents.

Giving the vote of thanks, Comrade Mohammed Abdulkareem, who was the Chief Strategist of the President-elect, charged Azeez to be proactive and progressive-minded. He thanked the students for their relentless support and reiterated that the emergence of  Obayomi, who is popularly known as ‘Saint’ on campus, was the handiwork of everybody that listened to the clarion call, especially against the forces of god-fatherism and hooliganism.
