Dear Forum Members,

I developed this forum as part of my dream and desire to create a better collaboration amongst University students in Nigeria. I've seen ideas birthed through forums like this. I've seen young men and women achieve their visions and dreams through sharing thoughts on forums like this. I've seen hopeless situations and challenging faces turned around positively through inspiring stories and suggestions in forums like this. I've seen friends coming together to setup businesses through ideas in forums like this and most importantly, I've seen people joining forces to change situations in communities where they belong.

I've seen all these work overseas where I studied and that's why I'm bringing it home to my dear country. My dream is to do this in all Universities in Nigeria or at least to as many Universities as time will permit me to.

What's the challenge? The challenge is that even though I may have developed this, I may not be there to make it work. I developed it for you guys so you could find somewhere to share your views and remain connected. So, it's up to you guys to see that it worked.

What am I asking for? I'm asking that we all come together to brainstorm on ideas to make the forum work.

So, how do we do this? I'll be sending some of you personal messages but I would suggest that everyone repond to this post with ideas of how we could boost the participation of members in this forum, how we can create more awareness amongst students.

For instance, should we print more posters and flyers to hand out to people? Should we host talk shows in various departments to create awareness? etc.

Please, your views are welcome!

In the meantime, I want to thanks OkwyJesus, Orobert and Dr Tony for holding things up while I was gone and for responding to many post.

At the end, we should be able to say like President Barrack Obama "YES WE DID" but right now, we can still say "YES WE CAN" because we really can.

Phronesis.

handing out fliers and posters is a good idea. However i think there should be representatives or something like that from each faculty that will be responsible for handing out the fliers and explaining to people what the unn forum is all about. This is necessary bcos few people in UNN know what forums are all about and they do not know the importance of participating in forums.

Nice idea Neelzar. Do you have someone who could volunteer to be a Rep for your faculty? If you don't want to say here, you could send me a private message.

Things are getting dull here. I think the flyer idea is a good one. We could produce and distribute flyers both in Nsukka and UNEC and before you know it, everyone will be here. If you need help Phronesis, I'm in!

I think everything has to come down to the kind of information people have. Most people here go online when there is an assignment to be done. However I suggest:
1) Word- of- Mouth. every day I use the forum I try so much to make someone know about the forum.
2) Active participation in the the forum and making it relevant to scholarship. When students(1st yrs) get to know that they can get solution for academic problems they would have no option but to here.
3)With respect to the distribution of handbills, I suggest there should be something like a formal lunch of the forum in Nsukka, so people can know what it is all about. etc.

Nice thoughts Roberts. I tried calling you on phone yesterday but you weren't picking the call. I'll try and get hold of you later or could you do me a proposal of what you think we should do and the modalities we need to take, including all cost, in launching the forum when the students are back in January? You could send me a private email so we can start planning. CHANGE, we must! Together, we stand!

Am really sorry for the delay in responding to this issue that has been of personal burden to me. l feel the following approach will be of help to us.

1. One to one talk to our friends and course mates.

2. Going to other popular websites like Nairaland to invite our friends and creating awareness since most of our students are there already.

3.l feel there is the need for those of us that are still students to come together, organize rally and if possible get a sort of T-shirt that will tell the university community that unnforum exist.

4. We can make forum more interactive and a solution center where assignments, table of content for term paper and all kind of academic assistance will be given to every members and visitors to create traffic.

l must confess that forum is turning dull everyday and we must respond fast.

I LOVE UNNFORUM AND AM NOT KIDING ABOUT IT.

Good call guys. Would it be possible for OkwyJesus to sync up with Oroberts and other interested guys out there on campus so we can put heads together and know how to launch the forum formally going forward?

Also, we can start inviting our friends to the forum using the "Invite A Friend" section. All you need to do is to click on the "Invite A Friend" link, close to the Home tab, and then add e mail addresses of your friends and invite them.

We can also spread the word about the forum on facebook groups. So, if you belong to any facebook group that's related to UNN, please, feel free to spread the word. Yes we can! We can make it work and help the coming generation realize their full potentials.

I think we should also launch this in our various departments/faculties meetings. What I'm saying is that we can hand out flyers to students in their departmental meetings/events. With the coming Nuga games, we can also hand out flyers even to students from other Universities.

Y'all fellows has really made nice suggestions, i cud volunteer to be a rep. Of unnforum in my faculty and also in my department. One other way we could boost awareness of this forum is by visiting cafes' around our school for a start and talk to who ever runs it to make unnforum the home page on all their system units, and also change the desktop or the timers wallpaper to a picture advertising unnforum on it...

May God help and bless you Dr. Tony. Nothing gives me joy like seeing information being shared freely. The Bible says that our people perish for lack of knowledge...that means to me that if we give our people good information, they'll get knowledge and as a result of knowledge, they won't perish prematurely, in fact, they won't perish at all...they'll only die happily when it's their time.

You guys are simply amazing!!! I'm propelled to do more and dedicate my time to this forum if you guys are going the extra mile of advertising the forum on your own. This encourages me and tells me that you want this effort to succeed by all means. From this week, I promise to spend more time adding all the cool features you guys have requested.

Please, keep up the good work so we can say YES WE DID!
