I believe that the true answer to this question relies on your definition of success. To me, success means the accomplishment of one's goals in life. Taking this into consideration I would say that education does not necessarily ensure success in life.

I would rather say that it is one great vehicle that can lead one to success in life. Look at it this way, success is a destination, but we have have various means of arriving there, you can go by bus, motorcycle, airplane, legedez benz or whichever means, education is just like one of these means,  and it is left to each individual to choose which path to follow

Even if u are successful in ur pocket,without education u can't be successful upstairs. Knowlege is the greatest success one can ever achieve in live.u can only get d best of it through education.Education can put u on d right path in attaining high quality success dat even an uneducated successful man can't talk when u are talking.
An educated business man has more advantages over an uneducated businessman on d same line of business.these advantages can make him more success dan d other.
U will hardly cope with a successful illiterate cos he en't successful upstairs.dat's why many are on d struggle to acquire d bit dey can in education.
With dis,i recon dat Education is d greatest key to success of any kind.

U guys also have to take note of what the poster wrote. He was not talking about education rather he talked about academic pursuit. U will quite agree with me that education and academic pursuit are two closely related but different things. I will like to state here that no 1 can succeed without education but 1 can succeed without academic pursuit.

If I may ask again, what is education? What is knowledge? These two differing terms can be obtained even in a carpentary workshop. You may need education to succeed in life. But do you need academic qualification to succeed? Bill Gates is educated in the business field though he has no academic qualification. Education and academic do not mean the same thing.
