Don't find fault, find a remedy

Two days ago I paid a visit to a friend of mine named Henry, who has sought admission into a tertiary institution for five years without any success. I met him in a sombre mood. Intuitively aware what the problem is, I decided to ask him what's the matter in order to fulfill all righteousness. His response was an emotional question. He asked me; "Does academic qualification ensure success in life?". Almost immediately, a strong debate sprang up in my mind. One part of me urged me to say yes and the other part of me was saying no. I was inbetween the devil and the deep blue sea. It then occured to me that different people from different fields define success in different ways. Nevertheless, I was able to evade the question. But I will like my everblazing forumites to help me answer the question incase I happen to come across it again. So I ask you my dear forumites; "Does academic qualification ensure success in life"?

Success in life i believe comes from God and works by luck but academics sumtimes acts like a stepping stone to success and sumtime as a spicy to ganish success. But academics is very necessary bcos we need to make this world a better place for mankind.

No! Education does not ensure success in life. I think it only sharpens you up.

One can be educated, yet unsuccessful and vice-versa

College dropouts such as Bill gates are hugely successful success icons. Some educated people in our communities today live from hand to mouth. With this I am tempted to believe that acadamic qualification does not ensure success in life.

Education is only a sort of instigator to one's intellect. Unarguably, success does not come from education. Whatever one wants 2 do, it is best to do it in school. Let me give u guyz a clue: Instead of being an electrician, u could be an elect/elect engineer;
a mason - a civil engineer, and so on and so forth

@ejibond
U were born with skills imbedded in u. It is left for u to develop them and that was what Bill Gates did. He only developed that which was already in him

Even bill gates didnt discover his talent while sitting @ home or learning some sort of trade but he discovered his talents while @ school when he was 13: @ private lake side school(a computer oriented school), he discovered his interest in software and began computer programming. Also, he developed a version of the programming language basic for the first micro computer. Notwithstanding, i must have 2 commend his vision & foresight which were part of this. But i believe a part of every great man's achievement is traceable to education of some sort; either formal or informal.

school does not teach u to be a business owner. It only teaches you to manage a business created by a capitalist.

@smartfrank, will it be wrong to say that capitalists are educated business owners?
