Source: http://www.unn.edu.ng/index.php/component/content/article/217The scope of international friendship and partnership between University of Nigeria and other foreign universities in areas of academics and research is widening significantly. Recently, North Dakota State University (NDSU), located in Fargo USA and University of Nigeria signed a memorandum of understanding that will lead to a variety of joint endeavours in academic programmes and research. According to Kerri Spiering, NDSU Associate Vice President for Equity, Diversity and Global Outreach, the collaboration discussions between the two universities was brokered by Prof. Charles Okigbo, a Professor of Communication in North Dakota State University. The specialized academic areas in the collaboration bid include: Agriculture, Communication and Joint Research Enterprises. Besides, Mrs Spiering said that the two universities may pool resources together to prepare Journal articles for publications and/or develop research grants. What is more, University of Nigeria faculty members may have the opportunities of doing Doctorate degree programmes in some specialized areas in NDSU. Kudos to the efforts of Professor Bartho Okolo, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Nigeria and his Special Assistants who have been working conscientiously in upgrading the academic standards of the historic University. |
