We are here to add what we can to life; not to get what we can from it.

@ WANDO. What do you mean?

What's the Secret of Success?

"Takes pain," said the window.
"Keep cool," said the ice.
"Drive hard," said the hammer.
"Be up to date," said the calender.
"Never be led," said the pencil.
"Be sharp," said the knife.
"Make light around you," said the fire.
"Stick to it," said the glue.
"Be bright," said the lamp.

You Can Start To Win At Any Time

To solve any problem or to reach your goal, you don't need to know all the answers in advance. But you must have a clear idea of the problem or the goal you want to reach.

All you have to do is know where you're going. The answers will come to you of their own accord. Don't procrastinate when faced with a big difficult problem, break the problem into parts, and handle one part at a time.

If you can get up the courage to begin, you have the courage to succeed. It's the job you never start that takes the longest to finish. Don't worry about what lies dimly at a distance, but do what lies clearly ahead.

Your biggest opportunity is where you are right now. Once you begin you're half done. when you realise you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody You want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible

Double Time!

Les Brown, a noted inspirational speaker, tells the story of one of his friends, a salesman, who was in financial trouble because sales were down. Les asked him, "How many phone calls are you making a day?" His friend answered, "Twenty five."

Les didn't hesitate with his advice. "Double them," he said. "Make fifty. Or seventy-five. Or one hundred."

The salesman answered, "Aw, man. that's too much."

"Too much!" replied Les. "You tell me that you are behind on your bills and then you say it's too much. You know, one way to get back on your feet real quick is to miss two car payments. How can you say anything is too much when you have everything at stake?"

The advice Les Brown gave his friend needs to be heard by people everywhere. It's amazing what we can do when we're "hungry" for success. Most people who say "I've tried," haven't scratched the surface of their potential.

Today, why not make a commitment to achieve your personal best?

You've Got to Ask

A salesman for a new wheel-balancing machine visited an auto repair store in Sacramento and gave the manager, Ted Stevens, a demonstration.

"Isn't it a great machine?" asked the salesman. "Yes it is," answered Stevens.

"It would be a great investment and a great time-saver, wouldn't it?"

"Yes."

Don't you think every garage ought to have one?" the salesman asked.

"Yes," replied Stevens.

"Well, why don't you buy it?"

Ted replied, "Why don’t you ask me to?"

The salesman may have known everything about his wheel balancer, but he needed to ask for the order.

Success in life takes more than self-confidence, belief in yourself and be concerned for people. You've got to tell people exactly what you expect from them. Be straightforward.

The Optimist,

There is a story of identical twins. One was a hope-filled optimist. "Everything is coming up roses!" he would say. The other twin was a sad and hopeless pessimist. He thought that Murphy, as in Murphy's Law, was an optimist. The worried parents of the boys brought them to the local psychologist.

He suggested to the parents a plan to balance the twins" personalities. "On their next birthday, put them in separate rooms to open their gifts. Give the pessimist the best toys you can afford, and give the optimist a box of manure." The parents followed these instructions and carefully observed the results.

When they peeked in on the pessimist, they heard him audibly complaining, "I don't like the color of this computer . . I'll bet this calculator will break . . . I don't like the game . . . I know someone who's got a bigger toy car than this . . ."

Tiptoeing across the corridor, the parents peeked in and saw their little optimist gleefully throwing the manure up in the air. He was giggling. "You can't fool me! Where there's this much manure, there's gotta be a pony!"

Are u a pessimist or an optimist?

I am neither an optimist or a pessimist because I have achieved a balance between optimism and pessimism.

Further illustration on optimism and pessimism.
An optimist says it is half full while a pesimists says it is half empty.

Why not a balance as total optimism might be dangerous

@smartfrank
a balance is not ideal. The proportion of optimism to pessimism should be 80:20 since u cant be 100% pessimistic. As 4 me, i see no danger in being a total optimist.

The proportion of optimism to pessimism should be 80:20

Little Blue Engine

A delightful children's story tells of a little blue engine who looked at his impossible task of pulling a train up a steep hill and said, "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can." Filled with determination, the little blue engine huffed and puffed and pulled up the hill. But in an amusing twist to the original story, another author wrote:

"He was almost there, when -- CRASH! SMASH! BASH! He slid down and mashed into engine hash On the rocks below...which goes to show If the track is tough and the hill is rough THINKING you can ain't enough. The winner glories in the good; the whiner majors in the mediocre. Winners' thinking processes differ from other people's. As part of their normal, moment-to-moment stream of consciousness, winners think constantly in terms of I can and I will. Losers concentrate their waking thoghts on...what they should have done...would have done...what they can't do. When the mind's self-talk is positive, performance is more likely to be successful. The huge majority of our negative doubts and fears are imaginary or beyond our control."

The Mental Chain

Most people are like the circus elephant. Have you ever seen a giant elephant in an indoor arena tied to a little wooden stake. That huge creature can pick up two thousand pounds with its trunk, yet it calmly stays tied. Why?

When that elephant was just a baby, and not very strong, it was tied by a huge chain to an iron stake that could not be moved. Regardless of how hard it tried, it could not break the chain and run free. After it a while it just gave up. Later, when it is strong, it never attempts to break free. The "imprint" is permanent. "I can't! I can't!' it says.

There are millions of people who behave like this creature of the circus. They have been bound, tied and told "You'll never make it," so many times they finally call it quits. The may have dreams, but the "imprinting" keeps pulling them back.

Today, eliminate the source of your limitations. When you mentally break free, the boundaries will be removed from your future.
