what is that canker which bedevols our beloved motherland, threatening to tear her to shreds? What is it that diminishes our sense of national bride, our patriotic zeal or cohesion! where lie our integrity, our honour, our dignity? I guess you have ready answer to this fifty million naria question (no Ghana most please) Ask that taxi driver on the street and the sure will launch a tirade on the government. My folks back home call government "Orosuen" in the local parlanco that seems to suggest that the guys up there are a bunch of conmen. To the enlightened, it is attributable to Mr. Corruption, Mrs. Unpatriotism, Miss. Tribalism and thier kitti and kin. The colonia influence, neo_colonianism, inperialism, negetive mind set or "the nigeria factor" are the scape goat we heap the blame on, exonerating ourselves as we do so. true, the average niogerian sees public business or property as nobody's. ours is to get what we can from the system, difend with vigour, the frame work to which we are beneficiaries but cry foul when the political or economic structures are not favourable to us. Traffic rules, to some are a spoil sports taxes are another way of enriching the bloated ruling class and as such buying our way throug to achieve our aims does no harm. The streets are adorned with human, domestic and industrial watse. The stench emanating from then supplies a fragrance that splaps your nose. Politics, to many is a gladaitory combat, if blackmailing and "Naira mailing" will not do the magic, then eliminating is the answer. No civil servant, nor civil masters and mistresses deserve medals for chatting away valueable time in theri offices shirking duties for flimsy reasons and treating less than prominent visitors shabbily. Hey! You squat to release the remains of Okpa, Santa or whatever on the floor of your hostel's convenience or worse still, at your choice "Airport" or Ninja ( Those in Franco Hostels know what i mean), are you bent on restoring the dignity of flies? Those hard paper and polyethene your stuff in the cistern are a risk worth taking. may you never complain of dilapidated facilities. With posters and bills, you make mess of the walls. how would you feel if I come to your house with posters to "decorate" floors, walls, doors, ceiling and windows? You will welcome it won't you? These and more are the signs of rot that has become a norm in our society. What is more? The educational system has been bastardised. true, there are structural defects in the system, coupled with strikes. But lets face it. You who do the undignified job of an examination mercenary in our higher institution, are you lending a hand in putting down your own house? What foundation are you laying for the nations development when you encourage the prepondrance of certificate weilding illiterates. May God deliver us from malady of exam runs mgbor pending all forms of illicit academic merchandize. Did I hear you say Amen? With this, I will be putting down these words with my mighty pen "In a nation where corruption has been practices of almost everybody, change is recommened to be everybody's business".
